Rev. Demetrius B. Harris
Rev. Demetrius B. Harris is a native of Norfolk, VA and the daughter of Walter and Ada Bright. Rev. Harris was educated in Norfolk Public Schools and continued her education at Norfolk State University, where she received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education and a Master of Arts Degree in Pre-Elementary Education. She furthered her education at Longwood University gaining educational certifications as a Reading Specialist and a Libray Media Specialist.
She has taught in the Chesapeake Public Schools, Chesterfield County Public Schools, and is currently employed in the Richmond City Public Schools, where she is the librarian at Southampton Elementary School.
Rev. Harris is a 2006 graduate of the Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University, where she received the Master of Divinity degree with ans emphasis in Christian Education. Rev. Demetrius Harris was licensed to preach in April 2006, and ordained in March 2012. She is very active with the Women's Ministry and the scholarship committee at Second Baptist Church. Each year she coordinates the annual Easter egg hunt for children in the church and community, along with the annual Give-Away at the Black Community Love Festival. Rev. Harris was honored in 2013 by the ETA Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated, Alpha Delta Chapter, Women of Distinction Award. Their motto is "Not For Ourselves...But For Others."
She is the wife of Dr. James Henry Harris, Senior Pastor at Second Baptist Church, Idlewood Ave. They are the parents of two sons, James Corey and Cameron Christopher.
