Ron Rogers (1954-2020), was a Richmond, Virginia, native known as the first African American political cartoonist on the staff of a daily newspaper (the South Bend Tribune in Indiana). He started his career at the late Richmond Afro-American and Planet newspaper. He created this cartoon in 2019 for the Winston-Salem Chronicle, a Black newspaper in North Carolina. It represents the essence of Black suffering.
